Ignis acquires SmartOptics

(Oslo, November 26, 2010): Ignis, a leading international provider of optical components, announced today that they are entering into a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) to acquire 100 percent of the shares in SmartOptics AS, a Norwegian supplier of optical subsystems for storage, data- and telecommunication.

SmartOptics launches T-4808 ultra compact 8/10G 1U transmission system

SmartOptics has expanded its popular 1U T-Series transmission portfolio with the launch of the T-4808, a 1U C/DWDM platform designed to carry all protocols up to 10Gig.  Based on pluggable transceivers, the T-4808 can support up to 4 x 8G and 4 x 10G services under one roof.

SmartOptics launches world first Long Distance 10G SFP+ CWDM Networking system

SmartOptics has developed a unique CWDM system capable of delivering 8 x 10 Gbps SFP+ channels over distances of 40km. The system, available immediately, is the first of its kind in the world and removes current distance limitations of SFP+ transceivers. Network operators and equipment manufacturers can expand legacy CWDM networks with additional 10G services. Equipment interfaces using SFP+ no longer have to be connected in to a separate transmission system to achieve multiple channels and longer distances.

SmartOptics, fastest growing company in Oslo 2009

The award which assesses companies thorughout Norway was presented to company Founder and CEO, Terje Hallanin Oslo on Thursday night. SmartOptics has seen rapid growth since its inception in 2006, and will close 2009 with a turnover of $12M USD.
